All energies, time and man-hours spent by top shots of the All Progress Congress APC in Imo State, in submitting a 3-man list each from the twenty seven Local Government Areas, LGAs came to naught, as Gov Rochas Okorocha prefers Decampees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to dominate his present State Executive Council EXCO.
It would be recalled that in a series of meetings held with Chieftains of APC, Okorocha had instructed Leaders in each LGA to submit a list of three persons from where appointments would be made, including Commissioners.
Following this directive from the Governor, the Leaders had drafted names of three APC top shots and submitted to the Governor.
However, when Okorocha released the list of his Commissioners last weekend, APC Chieftains were shocked to their Bone Marrows, as not only that none of the names they submitted, and attended “Interview” made the short list, but people who are not even APC card carrying members, and never participated in APC activities made the list.
This scenario has irked APC followers and Leaders who are yet to absorb the shock, which they see as not only insulting, but robbing Peter to pay Paul, as it was surprising that those who had nothing to do with Imo APC or even Okorocha’s political machine, “Rescue Mission” or “Nneoma Group” made the list.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, Okorocha chose those who fought APC members against his own election in 2015.
The source maintained that one of the Commissioner nominees from Orlu zone, made sure that Okorocha failed in his Booth, but today the fellow is a major beneficiary of the Okorocha administration, while those who stuck their necks out for Okorocha are the losers.
Aboh Mbaise LGA APC leaders were shocked that the names of Dr Victor Ukpabia, Hon Esther Eburuche and Cecilia Aduba were nowhere found but instead youthful Chidi Nwaturuocha emerged from the LGA.
In the present list, politicians with PDP affiliation now or in the past as usual dominated Okorocha’s State Executive Council.
Some of these men and women were frustrated out of PDP, and Okorocha may have given them soft landing with appointment for them to extract pound of flesh from PDP members, as a payback for Okorocha, who recognized them.
Some of these PDP run-aways include Prof Nnamdi Obiaraeri who had served in all PDP administrations since 1999, Chief Jones Uzoka, who was former
ISOPADEC Boss, under Gov Ohakim, Chief Tony Umezuruike was a former Imo Liaison Officer, Abuja under Gov Udenwa.
Mrs Angela Uwakwem, former MD of Federal Medical Center, Owerri, was given her appointment then under the President Goodluck Jonathan regime.
Mrs. Joy Mbawuike won Isiala Mbano House of Assembly election, under PDP but was removed from office under controversial circumstances.
Meanwhile, sources told Trumpeta that Okorocha picked core-politicians to help him execute his plot in hoisting a successor in 2019, and that only these disgruntled and humiliated PDP Decampees can deliver the goods without blinking an eye, having been now “anointed” for a vengeance mission by Okorocha.
