The trend in the world today, is for youths, not just visionary youths, endowed with wisdom, courage and strength of character to take up the mantle of Leadership in their countries. Little wonder why, the achievement-packed Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle of Imo State, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, Grand Commander of Free Education, GCFE, OON, has insisted that henceforth, no one above the age of fifty (50), world govern the state.
As at today, the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, is 39years; president of a Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, is 44years, president of Belgium Charles Michel is 41years and president of Canada Austin Trudeau is 44years. Back here in Nigeria, both General Gowon and Chief Odimegwu Ojukwu, were less than thirty years, when they administered Nigeria, and the Eastern Region respectively.
It is on this note that Chief Collins Osuagwu, the Umuamagwu, Umuduru Aro, Umuebi, Ugiri, Isiala-Mbano Local Government Area- born oil magnet and philanthropist, who has volunteered to reposition Imo State with effect from May 29th 2019, comes to mind.
The Chairman, Chief Collins Osuagwu foundation, who is based in Germany and Switzerland, has volunteered to use his wealth of experience garnered over the years in Europe to add value to the lives of his fellow citizens of Imo State.
In a recent interview with journalists in Owerri, he was emphatic that his decision to run for the Imo State gubernatorial position was borne out of his desire to impact positively on Imo people, stressing that gone were the days when people claimed they were forced by their people to contest.
He was emphatic that having gone through series of leadership training he was eminently qualified to occupy the position of the governorship of the state, adding that he has the magic wand to move the state forward.
Chief Osuagwu pointed out that if he could, through its foundation make a difference in the lives of his beneficiaries, he would do more if given the mandate to rule the state. Those who know Chief Collins Osuagwu, described him as a disciplined, focused and philanthropist who through his foundation, contributed immensely to the development of humanity.
They corroborated his claim of philanthropy disclosing that apart from giving grants to widows and indigent for their businesses, has a scholarship schemes that have assisted the less-privileged but brilliant students fulfill their dreams of acquiring education.
They were emphatic that a lot of youths were discovered through the football competition he set up in local government area – Isiala Mbano while a number of youths have benefited from the skill acquisition programme sponsored by Chief Collins Osuagwu Foundation.
As is stated in the bible that the people rejoice when the righteous is on the throne, and suffer when the wicked is on the throne, the decision is for my good people of Imo to make the right choice in Chief Collins Osuagwu, a near perfect gentleman, who is fresh in partisan politics and has no baggage’s or acrimonies against the old brigade as their next governor to sustain and consolidate on the efforts of governor Rochas Okorocha, so that Imo State will continue to maintain its pride of place in the comity of state in Nigeria.
Imo youths, women and my fellow gentle men, this is our chance to make Imo State work. Support Chief Collins Osuagwu for the benefit of all of us.
