Years after the political romance between the Agbaso family of Emekuku, Owerri North LGA, and the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha ended in a tragic-comedy, at last the Governor has visited the Agbasos.
Okorocha against many expectations stormed Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Emekuku venue the funeral service of late Lady Ihuoma Agbaso, the wife of the former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Sir Jude Agbaso.
The Governor who was escorted by a heavy entourage of his Aides entered the Church even before the service started.
He sat on the front row, with his erstwhile political Buddy, Chief Martin Agbaso, although separated by former Secretary to Imo State Government, Sir Jude Ejiogu.
However, the Governor could not make a speech as the order of protocol could not allow him make comments, which many had stretched and cleaned the ears, to hear.
Trumpeta learnt that the Agbasos said no recognition or speeches, since they were there for mourning and nothing else.
However, Okorocha’s visit terminated at the church, as he could not visit the Agbasos home to witness the burial of late Mrs Ihuoma Agbaso who was Okorocha’s special Adviser on Pet projects, until she was removed out of office alongside the husband.
But Okorocha’s wife Mrs Okorocha later paid visit to the Agbaso home at about 4.30pm that same day.
Okorocha’s latest visit to the Agbasos had raised a lot of eye brows, as many thought the Governor would not visit the Agbasos in this time of sorrow, following how both families separated politically.
It would be recalled that Chief Martin Agbaso, was the Chief Financier and Leader of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, before the 2011 general elections.
However, Agbaso handed APGA structure in Imo State to Okorocha to realize his long term dream of ruling Imo State with a promise to make his brother his Deputy, while Martin waits in the wing, to take over from Okorocha after one term in 2015.
But within a short time the Governor was alleged to have engineered Jude Agbaso controversial impeachment.
Ever since then, there have been no love lost between Okorocha and the Agbasos, and both families had remained a distance from each other, until the death of Mrs Agbaso brought both former political allies together once more.
Meanwhile, the burial of late Ihuoma Agbasos was classic, if there is anything like that in a burial. It was celebrated with solemnity, as tears flood like the river, following the late woman’s behave our and character which was attested by those who knew her.
It was also a political carnival as Imo politicians trooped out in their numbers devoid of political affiliations.
