The long-awaited list of Commissioners designate in Imo State has been released by the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha four months after he dissolved the State Executive Council, Exco.
However, the list of thirteen (13) Commissioners whose names have been sent to the House of Assembly for clearance has created a problem among the All Progressive Congress APC, Imo State and with Governor Rochas Okorocha’s political family, otherwise known as “Rescue Mission”.
Information reaching Trumpeta has it that members of APC across the State are shocked with the list released by Okorocha, as they wondered why some people who are not even members of APC made the list, while those suffering for the party were left out.
The sources maintained that if Okorocha thinks he can continue to fool Imo APC members, the list of Commissioners will be the last straw that will break the camels back.
Trumpeta was told that many had expected that Okorocha would use the appointment of Commissioners to “settle” some of the people working for APC since the party debuted in Imo, rather the Governor went and appoint people who are not core APC members as Commissioners, as most of those who made the list have not spent up to one year in APC, while some them are not even card carrying members of Imo APC.
Some of the APC members who spoke to this Newspaper disclosed that they have been waiting for Okorocha to name his Commissioners, and now he has done that, they have discovered that the Governor cannot change i his nepotism, and therefore have to leave the party for him.
However, some of them who said they would remain in the party, told Trumpeta that they have to stay in the party to help Senator Ifeanyi Araraume pick the party’s Governorship ticket in 2019.
They confided in Trumpeta that if they leave, it would afford Okorocha the opportunity he craves for to hoist a stooge as the party’s Governorship candidate in 2019.
“Let me tell you, the last thing we will do now is to abandon APC for Okorocha. Instead, we shall remain here and fight it out with him. We must make sure that Okorocha’s choice does not emerge Imo APC Governorship candidate. Even if he likes let him pay N1billion Naira to each Delegate” a top APC stalwart told Trumpeta.
Already, there is wild jubilation in the camp of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume. Sources said that the Destiny Group” the Araraume political camp, is rejoicing over the crisis the Okorocha Commissioners list has caused within Imo APC.
It was learnt that the situation now favours Araraume, as disgruntled APC members, and former Okorocha’s allies are trooping to Ishiebu, Isiala Mbano home of Araraume to identify with the Senator and his 2019 Governorship ambition.
