For now, it is a no love lost situation between Dr Obi – Njoku, the Commissioner for Health inImoState, and his Special Duties counterpart, Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu.
According to Imo Trumpeta findings, the two Medical Doctors by profession, are fighting over one position; The Commissioner for Health slot.
Source told Imo Trumpeta that while Dr Obi – Njoku fights to retain and remain in office as Commissioner for Health, Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu is fighting to replace him whenever the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha chooses to remove Obi – Njoku.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that Nwachukwu has been angling for Obi – Njoku’s position by playing a good boy so that he would be recommended by the powers that be to replace Obi – Njoku.
It was learnt that the cold war raging between both men came to the open recently, when Nwachukwu allegedly accused Obi – Njoku of sponsoring some Newspaper publications against him, portraying him as an incapable medical doctor.
This sources said, Obi – Njoku denied, adding that he had nor reason to do that. But it was disclosed that Obi – Njoku got jittery with the closeness between Okorocha and Nwachukwu who now work as the Special Duties Commissioner, with office at Government House, Owerri.
This Newspaper was informed that Obi – Njoku was hinted by close confidants that Nwachukwu was eyeing his job, and capitalizing on the crisis at Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu, to portray Obi – Njoku as being incompetent to handle Ministry of Health, which controls IMSUTH.
The reason was draw the Governor’s attention to Obi – Njoku’s incompetence so that should Okorocha decide to change Obi – Njoku, Nwachukwu would then be handy, and be handed the job.
It was learnt that Obi – Njoku narrowly missed the last cabinet reshuffle by the whiskers, simply because he is a maternal uncle of the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso.
Hoping that Obi – Njoku may not escape the next reshufullment, Nwachukwu is said to be putting his act today in making sure that he got his pound of flesh.
When Imo Trumpeta called both commissioners, they did not pick their phones.
But sources close to both men confirmed the bad blood raging between the Okorocha Commissioners.
Obi – Njoku’s aide told Imo Trumpeta that his Boss is a seasoned politician and professional who is full of experience and maturity and therefore cannot despice any or person including those fit to be his son.
One of the close pals of Nwachukwu told Imo Trumpeta that some people are afraid of Nwachukwu’s rising political profile and wants to destroy it, but will not succeed.
He refused to call names, but maintained that when Okorocha removed Nwachukwu from Ministry of Public Utilities many thought the Governor would drop him, yet he has been rising like a shining star since then.
