An Anglican Bishop of Egbu, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor has charged Christians to tread with caution, guiding against falling easy prey to temptations, as Satan was prowling and seeking whom to mislead.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu who gave the advice during a Eucharistic Service at Emmanuel Anglican Church, Olokwu-Umuso in Owerri West Local Area, Imo State pointed out they should be conscious of the fact that Satan
would always test them using something they desired most.
He explained that Satan may come in diverse way including in man’s form and urged them to be watchful of whatever they engage themselves into ensuring that they do not subject the Lord their God to test. He also exhorted them to be careful and discerning when being tempted as Satan was capable of quoting the Bible to test them, assuring that if they were grounded in the scriptures Satan would not be able to deceive them. He explained that once they pursue what was right and proper before God they would be overcomes, no matter the magnitude of the temptation which comes their way.
The Bishop who was particularly irked that some of them were known to have been engaged in quarrels over inconsequential matters as in things to eat and drink especially at funerals and advised against doing anything whether privately or in public that would not glorify God.
He also flayed those indulging in hosting charms in their homes, on the belief that they could be protected by them against death pointing out that their fears were unfounded as whenever death called they would not be saved by their charms and urged them to reverend and fear only the Lord their God.
On Valentine’s celebration, Bishop Okorafor advised couples to use the Day to strengthen their marriages. He however noted that the Day was being abused by some Nigerian youths who against the preciepts of the celebration anchored on ‘Agape Love’ engage in immorality, stressing that by this they were exposed to sexually transmitted diseases included the dreaded HIV Aids, unwanted pregnancy and the attendant abortions in their large numbers. While the Bishop regretted that youths now use the Valentine Day to commit atrocious immoral acts, not in celebration of St. Valentine Day but what they term lAn Anglican Bishop of Egbu, Rt. Rev.
