STAN DARA STORMS IRIJI AKAMA NA NANSA Assure Them of Sense of Belonging


The new yam festival (Iriji) of Akama na Nansa autonomous community has been celebrated with pomp and pageantry at the Old Mission field, Akama.
it is worthy of note that this year’s ceremony marks the official outing of the community’s first traditional ruler, Eze Justine Afam Agugoesi (Obi, 1) the Eze Ohazurumee of Akama Na Nansa autonomous community in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
Speaking on the occasion, the member representing Orsu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly Bro Stan Dara felicitated with the people for at last settling their protracted Ezeship tussle with the unanimous selection and eventual coronation of Eze Afam Agugoesi (Chaja) as the traditional ruler of their community. He regretted that the community has lost so much during the struggle with the attendant retardness of development and dividends of democracy which he described as some of the negative effects of the obvious vacuum in the traditional stool before now.
He doffed his hat for the people’s wisdom and foresight in choosing his friend, brother and dependable ally Eze Agugoesi as their traditional ruler who he described as a grass root leader, a business mogul, philanthropist per excellence and a lover of his people. Bro Dara charged the people to always accord the new Eze their maximum support to enable him achieve his vision of uplifting the welfare of his people and his community especially now that he automatically assumes the headship of the Community Governing Council.

The two term legislator advised the new Eze to see every part of his domain as his constituency and give equal opportunities to all his subjects irrespective of anyone’s role during the long dispute.

Reacting to some of the community’s requests as contained in their address, Bro Stan Dara who told the people that he was at the ceremony on the invitation of the Special Guest of Honour on the occasion Chief Hon Sir Cyril Cympok Okafor (Ekwueme Orsu), former Executive Chairman of Orsu Local Government promised that as the chairman of the State and Local Government Joint Projects Committee, he has selected three strategic roads in the Orsu North political divide as those to be given utmost priority when the dry season sets in. He listed the roads as the Ozuru Ihite-Nansa, Umuhu Okabia-Amaruru and Eze Odimegwu-Obibi Ochasi roads. He solicited the co-operation and understanding o those who’s shops and fences would be affected in the demolition exercise to be carried out in the course of the road projects citing his own country home as a demonstration of leadership by example.

Bro Dara who is also the House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Civil Service Matters seized the occasion to canvass support for the Community Governing Council (CGC) which the House has passed into law with the Governor assenting to the Bill. The CGC according to him is the Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s vision of taking development to the doorsteps of Imo people adding that he is a firm believer of the programmes of the Rescue Mission Agenda of the present administration. He made it categorically clear that he still remains a staunch member and supporter of the People’s  Democratic Party (PDP).On the achievements of the House of Assembly in the last one year, he told his cheering audience that the leadership style, humane and accommodating spirit of the speaker, Hon Benjamin Uwajimogu has made it possible for the House to churn out people oriented bills which have continued to serve as a synergy to the numerous achievements of the present administration in Imo State.

On the ecological problems ravaging some parts of the area, Bro Dara said the scope is beyond the capability of the state government and promised to liaise with the Constituency’s Federal representative, Hon Chief Jerry Alagbaoso on ways to attract the Federal Government intervention on the problem.
