A motion moved by the Hon member representing Ideato South State Constituency, Hon Ikechukwu Amuka urging the Imo State House of Assembly to pass a bill for a law to provide for public private partnership in the state and relaxing house rule has passed a second reading.
Moving the motion, Hon. Amuka stated that if a provision is made for public private partnership it will generate lots of income to the state Government. He used the water corperation as an example in his case study adding that if PPP takes over the establishment it will enhance the income generated.
Hon Amuka further noted that the public private partnership will boost the economic growth of the state if passed into law.
Opposing the motion, the member representing Aboh Mbaise state constituency Hon. Mike Iheanatu said that the public private partnership bill is man’s inhumanity to man adding that if passed into law it will mortgage the people of Imo state , sitting section 3 of the house rule and that before such bill is passed into law it will identify the priority in which the bill is being passed.
edHe stated that he is in support of the bill where people will not suffer in the name of public-private partnership.
The lawmaker maintained that the bill is not for the betterment of Imo people, pointing out that it will bring problems for his constituency Aboh Mbaise LGA and Imolites in general.
The member representing Aboh Mbaise in the Imo state of House Assembly while explaining the damage such bill will have on the image of the Governor and the House urged his fellow members to study the bill carefully before taking further actions.
