Lawmakers’ Body Rejects Okorocha Salary Slash For Judiciary Workers

The Chairman Nigeria Bar Association Imo State Chapter, Barr Stanley C Imo has said that his association will not accept the salary cut on any judicial work by the state Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Speaking in his office in Owerri, yesterday, the lawyer stated that judicial workers in the State Ministry of Justice do a lot of work which Government of the State did not value, adding that those been hired by the State Government, are not better than the workers in the Ministry of Justice only that they are not in Imo State that is why they are being valued more than those working in the ministry as he said that they role they play is the same with workers on the ministry. Barr Imo stressed on how a ministry worker in the ministry of justice who’s salary is 350,00 thousand will be cut to 15% percent as the person will be getting not less than 100,00 thousand or less as he said that the association in not in any way going to accept such cut from the state government.
He also noted that Imo state judicial workers should be paid the same salary with magistrate as he said that there are all members of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) adding that he said that nothing will make them collect the salary cut from the Governor.
He said “I wonder why the Governor should cut salaries of Imo workers; the State has 13% of oil derivation while Anambra State has nothing, and still they pay salaries of their workers. So why Imo State?
The Chairman also stated that the association has their own salary scheme and should not be tempered by anybody or group of person because there are working for the growth of the State and betterment of the Nation as he said that Government is not a personal thing.
On his achievement, the Chairman said that he hosted the NBA conference which was a huge success. He also revealed how his association took care of Federal High Court adding that as part of the former administration he has come to consolidate.
