Devil’s “Last Card” Is Fear -Bishop Oti

By Innocent Osuoha

Nigerians, especially Christians, have been admonished to always resist the temptation of being misled by their peers irrespective of the type of situation they find themselves.
The Bishop, Diocese On The Lake, The Rt. Rev. Chijioke Oti gave the advice while preaching at a vigil last Friday at St Mark’s Anglican Church, Ejemekwuru in Oguta Local Government Area.
He said every human being or child of God is prone to temptation adding that what distinguishes a child of God from others is the ability to resist temptation.
On the theme of the vigil – “Talitha Kumi” (Mark 5:41) Bishop Oti regretted that the devil has so possessed people to the extent that instead of believing in God they now live in fear, describing “fear” as the last card the devil uses to win people over and make them seek solutions to their problems at places they would not ordinarily have gone to.
Citing the Biblical Jairus whose daughter died as a fearless believer, the Bishop pointed out that Jairus never allowed fear overtake him on the death of his daughter but believed seriously that Jesus could raise the dead girl and his belief worked out.
He warned people on the danger of telling lies against themselves just as the worst deceit on earth is that of self. He equally enjoined people not to be tired of praying to God.
The vigil featured testimonies, rendition of special numbers by individuals and special prayers for individuals.
