A frontline politician and former campaign manager of Senator Ifeanyi Ararume for Njaba LGA, Chief Bliss Asonye (Otumba), has defected to the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Chief Asonye made the declaration last week, during the caucus meeting of the party at Nnannasa Njaba LGA of Imo state.
He noted that what attracted him into defecting to APGA was the visionary and pragmatic leadership of the APGA led government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha adding that he had watched with admiration the giant strides of the present administration in the State.
Chief Asonye who is also the chairman and Managing Director of Promaxx Global industries, expressed delight to join APGA where every member of the party irrespective of societal status is important and treated with care and respect, adding that he would do everything within his reach to strengthen the party in the local government.
Welcoming the decampee, the Chairman of APGA Njaba Chapter, Chief Isaac Mgbudon, on behalf of other members of the party, assured Chief Asonye of their corporation.
In his contribution, a Chieftain of the party and former chairmanship aspirant for Njaba LGA, Dr Nath Ndionuka Anokwute also thanked Chief Asonye for identifying with the party and assured him of a better package.
Dr. Ndionuka also used the opportunity to intimate the party members of the happenings in Njaba, adding that the re – positioning of the party led to the defection of Chief Asonye to APGA.
He further assured the party members that henceforth, the leadership of the party in the area would be guided by love, oneness and transparency.
In a related development, Hon Samuel Okenwa was also nominated and endorsed as Njaba LGA state officer by the members and leadership of APGA in the area.
Speaking shortly after his endorsement as the party LGA state officer, Hon Okenwa thanked the member of the party for choosing him and pledged to represent the party well.
He described Gov. Okorocha as God sent and great achiever, adding that he has achieved a lot in the last one year.
Hon Okenwa however described the twelve years leadership of PDP as a waste and advised the party to turn a new leaf.
