Few days after Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha sent packing all political appointees ranging from commissioners, advisers, Senior Special Advisers, Board and commission members, the private homes and offices of relations of the governor have turned Mecca for position seekers. As part of process to secure a political appointment following the dissolution of the state exco, those seeking for patronage from Okorocha are beating on all cylinders to ensure they gain advantage and be recognized for any of the positions that has been declared vacant.
Trumpeta observed that the wife of the governor, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha and his son inlaw Uche Nwosu, now Chief of Staff are at the receiving end of numerous visits and courtesy from position seekers in the seek.
Mostly involved in the rat-race for political offices are those who held posts before the dissolution and APC members as well as new joiners from the part, especially those of the Destiny Organisation political platform of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.
Trumpeta observed that in the absence of the governor who has instituted measures to ward off the phlethora of calls and advances made at him by lobbyist and their agents, the wife and Nwosu have been inundated with calls and messages by those seeking attention.
Another dimension added is the addition of gift items to siblings of the governor like Okey Okorocha, Gerald Okorocha, Ogechi Ololo (nee Okorocha and Geraldine Obinali (nee Okorocha).
The brothers and sisters have become wanted persons in the hands of the position seekers as it is believed that the governor holds his siblings high and respect their views in conducting the affairs of government. It was further gathered that apart from reaching the governor directly, asses to hiss relations is another veritable avenue to gain attention. The homes of the governor’s wife, relations and inlaws are said to be filled with guests who came in disguise to felicitate with them on the recent victory but visited to seek for appointment.
There are indications that Governor Okorocha have turned his back on some of his old appointees and has instructed his security men not allow any body without genuine reason to enter Government House.
