Destiny is one phenomenon no human being can thwart but some factors facilitate the success and realisation of one’s destiny. Such factors are preparedness to serve, hopefulness, perseverance, steadfastness, remaining resolute and resolve to go.
Perhaps it were these factors that facilitated the rise to stardom of the Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Ezeakonobi Madumere, a Prince of the Achi Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
Prince Madumere’s political career may not be described as being chequered. He delved into the murky waters of politics when he attempted to be a Senator under the umbrella of the Action Alliance, AA, party but luck did not smile at him then still he was resolved and resolute.
Humility and preparedness to serve pinned Prince Madumere to the fold of Owelle Rochas Okorocha even when the latter was just strolling into limelight. He remained with Owelle Okorocha as his Chief of Staff while Owelle’s business sailed.
When Owelle Rochas Okorocha plunged into politics, Prince Madumere remained by his side and even paid the supreme prize of being arrested for an offence nobody till date has been able to substantiate. Owelle won and Madumere was appointed the Chief of Staff, a position only for those trusted by the ogas.
A close chat with Prince Eze Madumere would reveal a peculiar characteristic God endowed him with – humility, belief in God’s time and preparedness to serve. No wonder when the position of Deputy Governor was vacant, the offer to occupy the position was presented to him. Ordinarily, every ambitious being would have jumped at the offer but Madumere did not.
It was like, “If you do not take this offer, I will quarrel with you.” He took it and resolved to be loyal, obedient and steadfast in service. This was his position and stance till Owelle’s first tenure ended.
If indeed the reward for hard work is more work, no wonder therefore, when the journey for the second tenure began, Owelle did not waste time in picking Prince Eze Madumere as his running mate again despite all campaigns of calumny against him. The Deputy Governor was fired front, back, left, right and centre. But, like the son of his father, he never bulged or replied his critics.
Today, May 29, 2015 Democracy Day, the Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha is being sworn in for a second term and behold, beside him is his Deputy, Prince Ezeakonobi Madumere (MFR).
