Members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Imo State Chapter on Monday walked out of a meeting with the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha accusing the State Government of neglecting their Body.
The State Governor had earlier on Monday announced in a radio announcement on IBC/Orient radio station a meeting between the number one citizen of the state who recently returned from an overseas trip with the NLC executive members in the state, but Trumpeta observed that the Labour Union Leaders got aggrieved with their alleged neglect from the part of the government.
Addressing the labour Union members before they walked out from government House, the Labour leader, Comr. Austin Chilakpu said they are not happy with the situation on ground adding that the union leaders were neglected.
“The Governor considered politicians more important than us” the labour leader submitted. Other union members who spoke to Trumpeta hinted that they came as early as 9:00am to meet with Imo Governor to discuss issues as agreed but were abandoned. The labour group stayed up to 11:00am before storming out of the Imo Government House venue for the meeting but surprisingly, Governor Okorocha walked in and few minutes after their union member’s departure.
Some Government House officials who spoke to our reporter under strict anonymity condemned the action of the labour union leaders in strong terms.
According to him, the new labour leadership is biting more than it can chew by staging a walk out on the State Governor, Owelle Rocha Okorocha.
Source revealed that the Governor had been very busy since morning. “The workers should have exercised patience” a politician said.
