An air of uncertainty is reigning among Commissioners and other political appointees serving under Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State as programs for the swearing in of the governor for a second tenure reaches feverish pitch.
Expectedly and in line with the practice all over the country, winners of the April 11, 2015 governorship election will be sworn in on May 29, 2015 which the Imo State Governor is part of.
Beyond the excitement preceding Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, is the tension and anxiety which has caught political appointees in the state.
Trumpeta learnt that Okorocha has concluded plans to dissolve the state executive council either before the swearing in or immediately after he takes the oath of office for second term.
The suspicion that Okorocha would sack all the Exco members heightened as most of the commissioners and appointees are engaging in last minute activities in their various ministries, and offices.
Our reporter who was at the state secretariat noticed that the commissioners have started winding up their functions and some coming up with farewell messages and activities.
While one of the commissioners was said to have packed out private belongings out of office waiting for the governor’s final pronouncement sacking all Exco members a major stakeholder in Okorocha’s government and inlaw, Uche Nwosu has had his final outing for now in the Ministry of Lands.
At an elaborate programe believed to be a farewell/thank you even with Ministry of Land Workers, Nwosu’s body language showed that the hand of clock is moving towards dissolution of the expanded Exco.
At the Government House, Owerri and recent public functions of the governor, appointees unable to decode their faith in the coming dispensation gathered to discuss the expected dissolution in hushed tones.
Ths newspaper was informed that some worried appointees are employing several tactics to warm into the heart of the governor to either survive the dissolution or regain their portfolios in the reshufflement.
