Uproar At Imo NUJ Election Igwe Retains Office Of Chairman As Opponent, Nwokocha Storms Out

A melo drama said played itself at Imo NUJ election held Saturday at the Press Centre located along Port Harcourt road Owerri.
Our reporter who monitored the election revealed that Sir Innocent Igwe, the incumbent chairman of Imo NUJ turned prayer warrior at the event. It was reported that Sir Igwe had already fasted for two weeks before the election. Igwe shad tears of joy as he was lifted shoulder high by his supporters immediately after the election and was declared winner by the national vice president South East, Comr Chris Isiguzo. Sir Igwe pulled a total of 152 votes to defeat his rival Chris Nwokocha who scored only 30 votes.
The House was highly excited as jubilation was every corner of the Press Centre that day .
In an appreciation speech, Sir Igwe re-iterated his commitment to uplift the Union adding that he is going to carry everybody along. He promised to work with Chris Nwokocha but regretted why Mr Nwokocha should storm out before the end of the election.
In his words, “The victory today is for all of us but am surprised that my opponent Chris Nwokocha did not stay to congratulate me”, Igwe submitted.
Trumpeta understood that , Mr Nwokocha left in anger. All efforts made to reach him to get his own side of story proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
Before the election, Trumpeta gathered that aspirants campaigned seriously and made so many promises to their supporters, but surprisingly most of the supporters lost out as they were disqualified and as such did not vote
Information revealed that over 20 Editors and 40 reporters were disenfranchis and this almost brought confusion at the election but was later resolved.
One of the disenfranchised Editor cried out loud and vowed to take the matter up.
