Fuel Scarcity: National Strike Looms As Banks Work Half Day In Imo

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the artificial fuel scarcity which has almost paralyzed all economic activities Nationwide.
Unfortunately the actions are coming at the heels of May 29, when President Jonathan is expected to hand over to the President-elect Mohammadu Buhari.
Trumpeta investigation has it that the scarcity is necessitated by the strike action embarked upon by the fuel marketers in the country. The strike action which has made it impossible for the marketers to lift petroleum products, if not addressed within the next forty-eight hours may ground the Nation to a halt.
In Imo State, the few fuel stations selling the product on Monday 25, 2015 sold at between two hundred and three hundred Naira a liter. This development which has catapulted transport fare to over three hundred percent.
Apart from people resorting to trekking because of the high transport fare, even banks
in the State Capital have already announced to their customers that their operations are now between 8:00AM to 1:00PM pending improvement in the fuel hike.
Some of the network carriers have also indicated to their customers of the possibility of a degraded service because of the nationwide scarcity of petroleum products. Indicating poor services as long as the scarcity persists.
Meanwhile the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC has threatened to call workers out on strike should the scarcity of the petroleum product continues. The Union reasoned that its members cannot be made to suffer untold hardship as a result of the scarcity in a country that has crude oil in abundance.
