Palpable fear has engulfed the leadership of Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the resignation of its national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu yesterday.
Our Abuja correspondent reported that the Wadata National Office of the party was tension soaked yesterday as leaders of the party including members of the National Working Committee (NWC) thronged the office.
According to him, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh who spoke to some journalists before the meeting of the NWC had assured to address them after the meeting.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Chief Metuh told journalists about the resignation of Alhaji Muazu as the National Chairman of the party. The report has it that Chief Uche Secondus has been adopted as the new national chairman pending the next congress of the party.
Information available to this newspaper also indicate that Chief Tony Anenih may also be on his way out as the chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the PDP. Although the reason for this mass resignation of some of the national executives of the party was not made public.
But our investigation revealed that Chief Tony Anenih and Alhaji Mu’azu may have been compelled to resign for failure to lead the party to victory in the just concluded elections in the country.
Similarly, Trumpeta has it in good authority that Imo State Chairman of the party, Barrister Nnamdi Anyaehie’s resignation is also being awaited as there is the likelihood that he will toe the line of honour just like his boss, the national chairman.
Anyaehie’s offence may not be unconnected with the poor showing of the party under his leadership in Imo State during the just concluded general elections. It will be recalled that the party abysmally performed below the expectations of the masses in a state adjudged to be a PDP state in the just concluded elections.
