Keen political watchers are still pondering what type of election took place last weekend at the four wards of Oguta Local Government for the State Assembly seat. Just for a bye – election holding in only four of the 12 wards that make up the ward, a reasonable number of security operatives took over Agwa, Izombe and adjourning towns. What disturbed POPULAR SIDE was the presence of the Brigade Commander of 34 Fields Artillery General Alkali and some senior officer who made Agwa Izombe axis their abode that Saturday. Even the commissioner of police and acting Director of the SSS were also witnesses to the election which produced the PDP candidate, Eugene Dibiagwu as winner. Traders and business people who gathered at the Agwa central market were asked by the army hierarchy to disperse as movements were restricted. POPULAR SIDE believed that the show went beyond election, maybe there was war. Imo Governor and Okigwe/Government House Roundabout. No one can tell what those who have opportunity to be helm of affairs of Imo state are looking for at the Okigwe/Government House Roundabout, Owerri. This question has become necessary in view of the ongoing demolition of the roundabout and construction of a new one by the Owelle Okorocha administration. From the time of late Sam Mbakwe to Achike Udenwa, every governor tried to give it a facelift. During the time of Ohakim and his New face of Imo crusade, the roundabout was touched and beautified courtesy of some corporate organizations.
This time Okorocha wants to institute his signature in the roundabout. POPULAR SIDE wanders if the Governor’s are threatened by the shadows of their predecessors forcing them to change the shape. Who knows whether it is part of the Rescue?
