Confusion has crept into the campaign organization of the former Senator who represented Okigwe zone, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume following their earlier decision to decamp en masse to APC after the 2015 general election.
Destiny organization, the campaign organization of Senator Ararume is at crossroads over order to them by Okorocha government to join APC en masse.
It would be recalled that Ararume, erstwhile chieftain of PDP where he ran for governorship primaries of the party and later took the eventual winner, Emeka Ihedioha to court few days to the governorship election of April 11, 2015 romanced incumbent Rochas Okorocha and showed sympathy for APC. Before the guber election, Okorocha surprisingly visited Ararume’s campaign headquarters at Onitsha road, Owerri, where the former Senator asked his campaign platform to work for Okorocha’s re-election.
Apart from exchange of certain items, Trumpeta was informed that Okorocha agreed to cede some percent of appointments to him as well as hand over to Ararume in 2019.
However, things seem to have turned awry for the camp of the Senator considering the recent turn of events which has forced the Destiny Organisation members to tarry a while before defection to APC.
Trumpeta learnt that the zeal that Okorocha showed in the Ararume campaign team has evaporated forcing some of the die-hard followers of the ex-Senator to reconsider joining APC. It was gathered that the cold shoulder the governor extended to the group during the recent get together to celebrate the governor’s victory was a warning signal that movement to APC may be catastrophic.
Unlike the pre-election romance, Okorocha not only shunned the Ararume group, but the only government official who attended and Chief of Staff to the governor, Chief Jude Ejiogu merely asked for the ex-Senator’s followers to join APC en masse and be identified with the broom symbol party.
Weeks after the order from governor’s Chief of Staff to Ararume’s men to join APC, members of Destiny Organisation are yet to publicly declare for APC. Trumpeta was informed that the Ararume people have employed “wait and see” approach. According to the details, the Destiny Organisation will wait till after May 29, inauguration and appointment of Executive Council members by Okorocha to see if the rumoured agreement that a percent of the people to form his new cabinet will be from the Ararume men.
Furthermore, the Destiny Organisation are becoming suspicious of the new alliance with Okorocha as their camp were not considered in the list of ministerial nominees the governor reportedly sent to President-elect for consideration.
Most loyalists of the ex-Senator are also said to have expressed reservations about the new alliance with the governor forcing them to adept the “wait and see’ approach till Okorocha ends his appointments before the declare public for APC.
