Why Police Killed Three Suspected Kidnappers

Men of the Imo State Police Command again recorded a major haul in their efforts to combat crime when three suspected kidnappers fell prey to their superior firepower.
The police operatives killed the suspects at a gun battle in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Tuesday before their lifeless body was brought back to Imo State Police Command Headquarters.
Describing how the operation was handled, Police Public Relations Officer for Imo State Command, Andrew Enwerem, a DSP, disclosed that based on a tip-off, the anti-kidnapping unit of the command stormed the Nnewi hide out of the kidnappers to rescue their victims abducted at different locations in Imo before moving them to Anambra State.
According to Enwerem, the suspected kidnappers on spotting the policemen engaged them in a shootout which resulted to their deaths, before the victims were rescued unhurt.
One of the victims, Lazarus Ezuka picked on April 28 in Akatta, Oru East said that it was hell for him in the kidnappers’ den, while Mrs Livina Nweze, another victim the kidnappers demanded N3,000,000 from the family said that she was blindfolded from her Akatta home to Anambra State where they walked for over two hours in the forest before police intervention.
