The move to sanction traditional rulers in Imo State who took part in partisan politics especially on the side of the opposition, before and during 2015 election has begun.
Information available to Trumpeta revealed that those to be affected are royal fathers from Owerri and Okgiwe zones who also showed allegiance to the out of favour chairman of Imo State council of Ndi Eze, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya. It was alleged that some traditional rulers used their positions to influence their subjects to vote and work against the ambition of Okorocha prompting Imo State Government to tinker with stiffer penalties.
Against this back drop, Governor Okorocha is said to have resolved with his Exco to punish the suspected royal fathers by withdrawing their staff of office in no distant time.
Names of the suspected Traditional Rulers alleged to have worked against Okorocha interest are being compiled and will be out soon.
Governor Okorocha has in different fora warned the Royal Fathers to desist from playing partisan politics or face this wrath.
It could be recalled that before the election, the Imo Council of Ndigbo was in disarray, as Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri was heading one camp while Eze Cletus Ilonmuanya was heading another.
A true picture of this was made clear during the last visit to President Jonathan to Imo State.
