The Peoples Democracy Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter is putting every machinery in motion to suspend Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume from the party, a process that will lead him to be finally expelled from the party.
The party is accusing the Senator of anti party activities which PDP said contributed to the failure of the party to win the Governorship election and other positions in Imo during the just concluded elections.
According to a source from Imo PDP who spoke to this Newspaper under anonymity, Ararume has become a recurring decimal in the party whose presence causes the party pains at the most crucial times.
Trumpeta learnt that though some other top Imo PDP members committed anti party offences during the last election, PDP believes that others did theirs within the conclave of their homes but Araraume emboldened others by doing his in the open, by publicly embracing the candidate of the APC, which contributed to the loss of the PDP candidate, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
Trumpeta was told that whenever the party calls any meeting, it will dwell on how to send Araraume packing from the PDP.
However, an Independent source told Trumpeta whether Imo PDP has discovered if Araraume would bother if he is suspended from PDP or not.
“Do you think whether Araraume will bother even if PDP suspends him? How many times will he deal with PDP before they realize their mistakes? When they suspend him, Araraume will still return to inflict more injury on PDP later” Trumpeta was told.
It would be recalled that Senator Araraume on the eve of the just concluded Imo Guber supplementary election held a meeting with the APC candidate, Owelle Rochas Okorocha at his Onitsha road campaign office, where he charged his followers to work for Okorocha.
It was said that all through the election, Araraume worked for APC candidates, especially in his OKigwe zone axis.
The Araraume latest face-off with PDP began last year December when he came second in the party’s Governorship primaries, where he at the venue, embraced the eventually winner, Emeka Ihedioha.
However, days after, Araraume contested the result of the primary, saying that he won, but was rigged out by Emeka Ihedioha.
The Ishiebu, Isiala Mbano born politician later headed to court to challenge Ihedioha’s victory.
The litigation was still going on in court when the Governorship election was held on April 11, 2015.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Araraume will challenge the PDP in an open battle and still went home unscathed.
In 2007, he contested for the Imo Governorship election which many said he won, despite various obstacles on his way. But he was denied the ticket, which he later grabbed from the courts. But PDP asked its members not to vote for him on the election proper.
In 2011 he contested the Imo Governorship but under the platform of the defunct ACN. He later retraced his steps to PDPin 2015 after he was part of the problem that caused the party the Governorship seat which Okorocha of the APGA won.
The question now is whether PDP is jinxed with the Araraume syndrome. This question can be answered after the party has finished its current battle with this political gadfly from Okigwe zone.
