The incumbent Governor of Imo State and the APC guber candidate who secured a win in last Saturday’s re-run election in the state Owelle Rochas Okorocha says his victory is the manifestation of the peoples verdict.
Governor Okorocha made the remark in the Government House while rejoicing with his team players following the pronouncement of his victory.
Okorocha who spoke to the public shortly after he was pronounced winner of the re-run election said his victory was delayed, as INEC should have declared him winner before now adding that justice and truth can only be delayed and not denied.
Speaking further, Governor Rochas Okorocha hinted that in the spirit of sportsmanship, he has forgiven those who offended him and is ready to work with everybody for the state to move forward.
The Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development Chief Uche Nwosu, who is also Governor’s son in-law, in his reaction, described the victory as a divine mandate. He restated that evil men cannot come back to power again in Imo state.
Nwosu claimed that his father in-law, Okorocha hitherto retired all those “he called bad politicians” in Imo, adding that PDP is now a “dead party” in Imo.
It would be recalled that Prof Oye Ibidapo Obe, the INEC returning officer who announced the result of the guber election declared Governor Okorocha, winner with 416, 916 votes with which he beat his closest rival, and PDP candidate, Chief Emeka Ihedioha who polled a total of 320, 705 votes.
The election was originally held penultimate Saturday and was declared inconclusive due to irregularities.
