The Media Department of the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is said to be on fire, following stiff disagreement between the former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, SSA Media, now the Commissioner for Information, Mr Chinedu Offor, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media (SA Print Media) Mr Ebere Uzokwa.

Imo Trumpeta learnt that the disagreement came to a head recently after Mr Offor, who ought to operate from the State Secretariat, Portharcourt road where he has a palatial office, still occupies his office at Government House, Owerri.

Therefore, Mr Uzokwa who feels that Offor’s appointment would afford him the opportunity to step up into the former’s office is pained that Offor’s stay at Government House, instead of Portharcourt Road Secretariat, is causing him the chances of being appointed SSA Media.

Sources told Imo Trumpeta that Mr Uzokwa, who hails from Isiala Ngwa, in Abia state, is not happy and have been complaining to whoever he met, to kindly appeal to Offor to vacate Government House and move to his official office as Commissioner for Information, which is atPortharcourt Road.

However, it was learnt that Offor has explained his presence at Government to the fact that the Governor was yet to appoint his successor, so that he can hand over, and proceed to Portharcourt road.

The problem now, sources said, is that Offor treats letters addressed to the SA Media, as well as operate as Commissioner for Information, and therefore occupying two offices simultaneously to the detriment of Uzokwa. In this case, Uzokwa who felt Offor’s absence would have allowed him treat all letters on Media in the Government House, is miffed that Offor is acting in dual capacity invariably usurping his office too.

Imo Trumpeta also learnt that Uche Nwosu the former Deputy Chief of Staff, who has since been appointed as Commissioner for Lands remains put in his office at Government House.

This also has elicited condemnation from those who felt that Nwosu’s movement would have created opportunity for others to be appointed.

But a source from Government House told Imo Trumpeta that it was not the fault of the appointees, because Boss who has the power to hire and fire is yet to announce their successors.

When Imo Trumpeta called Offor, he refused to pick his call. Same for Mr Uzokwa.
