A supervising agent for people’s Democratic Party PDP in the last gubernatorial and House of Assembly election in Ideato South LGA, Engr. Uche Ekekwe, has decried the inability of INEC to address the issue of petitions forwarded to it over the massive rigging, snatching of ballot boxes, intimidation and molestation, perpetrated by APC supports during the elections, as bad omen
Engr. Ekekwe who made the accusation in a statement released to newsmen, maintained that PDP believed in INEC and the card reader an
therefore did not prepare for what took place at the polling centers, describing it as an open abuse of office of the governor of a state and collusion ofin colabortaion with the police and INEC officials.
According to him, at about 09:30am on that election day, as he was preparing to go for accreditation, a PDP agent from Umuchima ward (the home of the incumbent house of Assembly member) Mr. Ezerebo Otakis and Barr. Alisigwe, TAN Coordinator for Ideato South, rushed to him and complained of missing ballot materials meant for their wards and other neighboring wards, like Ogboko, Obiohia, Umuobom and Isiekenesi.
The supervising agent stated that he followed the young men immediately to the various wards and saw that their reports were correct.Based on the foregoing, he advised that protest letters be sent to the REC and EO to alert them of the disappearance of the electoral materials but expressed shock that despite signing of the acknowledged copies of the protest letters, the EO and REC went ahead and accepted the forged results at collation knowing that election did not take place in those wards.
Engr. Ekekwe pointed out that at Ntueke ward, the collation officer was threatened by APC agents for not accepting the forged results from them, adding, that even when he called the DPO on the issue, the DPO came but could not do anything than to order the collation agent to record and announce the fake results to save his life.
He revealed that the DPO escorted the collation officer to the LGA office of INEC at Dikenafai and saw that the fake results were recorded at about 2:30am on Sunday, April 12, 2015.
This observer who expressed surprises, that INEC irrespective of the petitions forwarded to them, went ahead and announced the result and issued certificate to the claimed winners, stated,, that even PDP collation agent was manhandled in the presence of the EO for refusing to sign the fake results.
It would be recalled that on the 11th of April 2015 petitions signed by Noble Joe, Chairman, Isiekenesi ward I, Vitus Duruebube, Chairman Ogboko ward I and Cyril Emereonyeokwe, Chairman Ogboko ward II, captioned Hijacking of Electoral materials in the various wards and thumb-printing of ballot papers in Rochas House were forwarded to the Resident Electoral Commissioner and copied to the Electoral officer, Ideato South at Dikenafai, but till the time of this report, nothing has been done by INEC on the issues raised on the reports. No verification of the facts was made. No checking between the accredited voters in the card reader in contrast with the actual recorded figures was made.
