While many politicians are focusing on 2015, those of them with tall dreams and visions are already looking ahead.
One of the Governorship Aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo state, Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume was in Daura, Katsina State within the week, to pay a courtesy call on the President elect, General Mohammadu Buhari.
Araraume who was in company of his good friend, Governor Rotim Amaechi of Rivers State, was said to have been given a warm welcome from the retired Army General who will be inaugurated as Nigerian’s next Civilian President on May 29, 2019 at Abuja.
Sources told Trumpeta that Araraume’s visit to Katsina State was to “practically show” his loyalty to the in-coming Government of General Buhari, and solicit for support for his future political adventures.
Trumpeta was told that one of the major agenda for travelling to Daura, was for Araraume to inform Buhari that he was still interested in being the governor of Imo state in the future, after the incumbent Governor, Rochas Okorocha would have left office in 2019.
Araraume was said to have had a close door meeting with Buhari, where he explained to him his readiness to work for and defect to APC if need be, to actualize his long term dream, which is to serve Imo State as their Governor.
Trumpeta was informed that part of the agreement which led Araraume to work for Okorocha in the inconclusive Guber election in April 11, was for Okorocha to hand-over power to him in 2019, since it was being bandied about that it will be the turn of Okgiwe zone to produce the next Imo Governor in 2019, since Owerri zone has “massed” its own turn if it loses 2015 chance.
Trumpeta was informed that to solidify his dream of 2019 Imo Governorship, the Senator wanted to familiarize himself with the President-elect through his good friend, Rotmi Amaechi of Rivers State, who was Buhari Campaign Director-General.
However, Pundits believe that it is too early for any politician to begin to plot for 2019 when no body is sure what will happen between now and 2019.
But others maintained that there was nothing wrong for politicians to dream dreams, as every politician is ambitious, and Araraume has the right to plan ahead.
