Military Involvement In Election Is Undemocratic Nkemdeme

The retired Ogun State Commissioner of Police, from Awo-Omamma, Oru East Local Government Area Imo State, Chief Barr. Nicholas Daru Nkemdeme has condemned the military involvement in the ongoing general elections.
Speaking to newsmen at Oru East headquarters on Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections, Barr. Nicholas Nkemdeme expressed dismay over the absolute takeover of security agents in the election with reference to brutality metted out on some of the electorates and party agents which he addressed as high point of irresponsibility of some politicians.
The retired Police Commissioner who narrated the ordeals of some of APC members in Oru East involving the beating up of the LGA party chairman by some security men Chief Benard Nwanana, and Orluzurumee President General, Hon Chime Nzeribe stated that all his years in active service in the Police Force down to when he emerged as the CP, he never witnessed such manner of election where people were pushed around like aliens and bitterly beaten up with tear gas.
Barr Nkemdeme however enjoined INEC officials to come into the matter of Oru East Local Government where an alleged ten card readers and ten result sheets were reportedly missing making presence of 137 card readers and result sheets, against the 147 that the state headquarter released.
Meanwhile, he advised that for true democracy to take place, the citizens should be allowed to vote their best candidates, devoid of compulsion, stressing that there should be a re-election in places where there was none.
