Imo governor Chief Rochas Okorocha has been described as a greedy man with an uncanny ability to deceive the poor and ignorant because he understands their psychology. The contender for the APGA governorship ticket Mr. Okey Ezeh who made this description in a chat with newsman, lamented what he described as governor Okorocha’s insatiable appetite for amassing wealth to the detriment of the people who went through fire to elect him.
Mr. Ezeh wondered whether the Imo governor is a sadist who takes pleasure in seeing Imo people including his supporters swim in abject poverty pointing out that Imo helmsman is totally confused. He blamed ignorance, illiteracy and selfishness as reason why some Imo citizens may still be willing to work for governor Okorocha’s re-election.
According to him, “sometime when I think about the level of damage our governor’s greed has done to the economy of our state and the life of our people, I can’t help but shed tears because I agree with Martin Luther King Junior that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Okey Ezeh maintained that history will judge Gov. Okorocha harshly if he doesn’t repent, make restitution and apologise to Imo people for all the hardship and deceit he has subjected them to through his self serving policies and family-centered style of the so-called rescue mission. The youthful politician listed what he described as poorly implemented free-education which he said has described the quality of education in Imo, wasted of huge resources on poor quality road project, huge and indiscriminate borrowing by the government, crippling of the local government system, issuing of due cheques to pensioners, massive acquisition of land and houses by the governor and his family members, nonpayment of the stipends the government approved for the youths engaged under the so called “Youths Must Work” program, nonpayment and blackmail of contractors in the state, dissolution of town unions, importation of over nine billion Naira (N9bn) school uniforms and lockers from China instead of using it to empower our brothers and sisters who are tailors and carpenters, disobedience to court judgments, as some of the anti-peoples policies of the Okorocha led government.
He insisted that Imo cannot afford another four years of Okorocha’s deceit because according to him, it takes an above average intelligence to understand and insensitive as they come because Imo governor is a show near who follows how to manipulate the ignorant.
