Imo State based musician, Offor Chris Douglas, AKA Mr. OCD, who hails from Ebikoro in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State, has harped on the need for free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria in 2015.
Mr. OCD, gave the advice while speaking in Owerri about his new album, entitled “2015 Pregnancy” which he said was due for release by January 2015.
He noted that the album which has twelve tracks is preaching about “Peace, Unity and Love among Nigerians” could only be achieved when our leaders and Nigerians shun ethnic religious sentiments, political, economic malfeasance, bribery and corruption propelled by greed, rancor and acrimony and hence come together to work towards the development of the country.
Mr. OCD while re-calling with nostalgia, how Nigeria, despite its huge resources, has since 1960 abandoned agriculture for oil and hence has remained underdeveloped, regretted that due largely to greed or self aggrandizement among rulers or the privileged, Nigeria has been immersed in political difficulties, resulting to bloodletting and untold suffering of the poor.
Mr. OCD, who also disclosed that 2015 pregnancy is his first album, maintained that one of the ways Nigeria can have free and fair polls is by dissuading youths from indulging in political thuggery, hoping that 2015 will produce better opportunities.
The talented entertainer and an Imo State University graduate of Government And Public Administrator believes that when youths are empowered, they will contribute meaningfully to the development of the African society, insisting that “poverty breeds anger, and is more dangerous than HIV/AIDS pandemic and about 90 percent problem in the country is mainly caused by poverty, and end product of bad governance”.
He added that the album which also preaches love and unity among Africans, advises rulers to create job opportunities for youths so that vices would be lessened.
While calling on his fans to reach him via MrOCD2015pregnancy for their listening pleasure, advised his fellow artists to use their music to showcase Igbo/African cultural heritages for a better society.
