Ahead of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primaries scheduled for November 29th, 2014 the Acting Chairman of PDP Isiala Mbano Chapter Br Raph Nwanebu was formally inaugurated last Monday being 24th November 2014.
The epoch making event was graced by the leadership of the party and hundreds of party faithful in the LGA which include Hon Simon Iwunze, Chief Sam Osuji, Pharm JS Obi, Mrs. Ruby Emele, Chief Emetumba Ukachu and a host of Ward officers too numerous to mention.
The Acting Chairman, Bar Raph Nwanebu in his inaugural speech read the appointment letter given to him by the state chapter of the party dated 17th November 2014, signed by the State party Legal Adviser/Acting Organizing Secretary.
Bar. Nwanebu who is a legal practitioner and a Human Right activist stated that with the presentation of the letter all doubt about the legality of his position as an acting chairman has been removed.
The Lawyer also encouraged all members of the party to stand firm and defend the party, hence it’s not in contest whether he has the power to lift the party to the next level of polities in the state.
Bar. Nwanebu also bared his mind on the issue of discipline saying the caretaker Committee has the inherent power to discipline any member of the party found wanting. He therefore appealed to some leaders of the party who were fond of causing disunity and disaffection in the party to desist from such acts because the party will not on wielding the hammer on any person who goes contrary to the constitution of the party.
Speaking, he made his position known on whether his former chairman is running a parallel leadership contrary to the constitution of the party. Bar. Nwanebu also stated that the former chairman is no longer the chairman of the party for now based on his suspension by the LGA caretaker committee on the 6th November, 2014 and the approval letter from the zonal executive Committee dated 11. November 2014 and the letter of authority given to him by the state.
The Acting Chairman pointed out that if the former chairman in any way presents himself as a chairman, he will be arrested by the police for impersonation which is a criminal offence and anybody who attends such gathering will also be disciplined accordingly.
He recalled that the embattled chairman Chief Azubuike Ekwegh was suspended as the chairman along two other officers of the party Mrs. Florence Ohalete and Chief Linus Iroha for antiparty activities and since then he is still fighting like a wounded Lion.
Bar. Nwanebu regretted that his boss become a victim of the hammer of the party due to his high handedness in the management of the affairs of the party irrespective of advice given to him by the caretaker Committee. He therefore advised the former party chairman to return the entire properties of the party in his possession pending the determination of issue connecting him there with.
Assuring the party faithful of transparency in the management of the affairs of the party especially in the conduct of the forth coming primary election in the party at the LGA, Bar Nwanebu appealed for support.
