Arts And Culture Workers On Rampage, Protest Unpaid Salaries Want GM removed

Workers of Imo State Council of Arts and Culture have embarked on three days warning strike.
Speaking to Journalists in Owerri on Wednesday morning, the leader of the aggrieved workers and financial secretary of RATTAWU, Comr. Nwosu Chubueze said the purpose of the strike is to present their agitations and drive home all their demands from the State Government.
Some of the agitations he presented include none payment of salaries, allowances and other welfare packages.
Group of workers from Imo Arts and Culture, numbering over 50 were physically seen at the early hours of Wednesday demanding for the immediate removal of the General Manager, Hon Iyke Uzoma.
Some of the things the wrote on the placards read, “Owelle come to our rescue pay us our 3 ½ years weigh in Arrears (210 2014). Other things on the placards include “Sack Iyke Uzoma now. He is not the expected Messiah”.
The group also demanded that Governor Okorocha should please come to their rescue as a matter of urgency and pay them heir 2013 NAFEST Duty tour allowance and other accumulated money which Imo Government is Owing them .
Our reporter who visited the premises of Imo Arts and Culture said the whole entrance was locked up while the workers perambulate and loiter around the frontage. We were informed that some the Union leaders have been arrested.
Helen Igbozurike, Justina Osuchukwu, Chinedu Opara were among the workers reported to be in police net.
Further investigation revealed that it was the group known as Radio, Television and theatre workers Union (RATTAWU) which is the parent Umbrella covering the Arts and Culture group that locked up the place because of the agitation of their members.
The group said they have given the government all the required notice before locking up the place.
A spokes man from the camp of the General Manager described the actions of the workers as sabotage.
