SEMB Boils Over Schools’ Running Cost, As Imo Assembly Reinstates Sacked Teachers Summons Head Of Service

Distribution and shearing of Over N80m which was mapped out by Governor Rochas Okorocha to pay for running Imo Schools has hit the rocks.
Against this back drop, Government is planning to set up a Special Audit Committee for verification to ascertain the truth of the matter.
A close source hinted that the running cost money was not properly handled by the Head teachers and school principals.
It was also alleged that Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) were not sincere in the sharing of the fund to the principal of schools. Distribution of that of primary schools was also faulted.
At first the whole money meant for secondary schools in the state was said to have been paid into the account of SEMB but the sharing formula was said to be unacceptable by some principals.
Trumpeta gathered that apart from discrimination in the payment of cost per head some SEMB staff were alleged to partake in kick back and this reduced the total amount each secondary school collected as running cost. While some got high others got low.
It was expected that every school should be properly handled in the sharing of the running cost but SEMB Staff according to information did not live up to expectation.
The cost per head of school children in Imo is suppose to be N200 in primary school and N300 in secondary school.
Investigations have revealed that some school heads diverted the fund for private use after paying some amount of money as kick back to their running cost money from SEMB office in Owerri.
All the teachers and staff of SEMB who were involved in the shoddy deals are now on the run.
Meanwhile Imo State House of Assembly slage hammer is said to have fallen on the SEMB boss for high handedness.
The SEMB boss was said to have retired one Mrs Cecilia Arinzieh prematurely from the school system.
After all deliberations the House directed that Mrs Arinzieh (a teacher) be reinstated without delay.
At the presentation of the report of the House of the House Committee on Civil Service, the lawmaker ordered that all allowance, salaries and all other entitlements legally accrued to the woman, including promotion in accordance with the laws establishing SEMB be restored to her.
The House also ordered the Head of service, Mr Kalistus Ekenze to appear before it in the next seating for interrogation on the welfare of Imo Workers.
