No Harm Must Befall Okey Ezeh Estranged PDP, APC Aspirants Collect Party’s Nomination
Another dimension is entering the struggle for power in the Imo state chapter of the All Progressive Grand Alliance following the tragedy that befell the party last week.
Only last Thursday, some party officials met their untimely death in a fatal auto crash on the Uromi Asaba road. Among those who lost their lives were the state Publicity Secretary, Mr Mgbeahuruike, and Chidi Ibe, the State Auditor.
Further revelations indicate that the live of one of the aspirants, Okey Ezeh who was enjoying the support of the dead ones before they perished is now in danger.
Trumpeta learnt that witnesses to the crash indicate that there is more than the eye can see in the auto crash which also saw several others injured.
It was gathered from the camp of Okey Ezeh that life of the APGA guber hopeful is in danger following acts of desperation employed by one of the governorship aspirants of the party to ensure he gets the APGA guber ticket at all cost.
Dependable sources revealed that one of accident victims before he gave up at a hospital in Owerri allegedly made shocking revelations that seems to make Okey Eze and members of his campaign team as endangered specie exposed to attack by opposing group. The camp of Ezeh is not comfortable with the manner the party officials sympathetic to the course of their principal lost their lives in the fatal crash.
While Mgbeahuruike had in a statement denounced the publication that purportedly said that one of the guber aspirants, Capt Emma Ihenacho has been adopted by Imo APGA, the late state Auditor Ibe in another interview dismissed the consensus story as a figment of the imagination of the group that adopted the Emekuku-born politician adding that their action was an off shoot of a tea party.
Incidentally, the two alongside others, clamouring for free and fair APGA primaries got killed during the crash.
Alarmed at the development, an APGA stalwart in Imo and leader of APGA Youth Assembly in the state Comrade Chukwuma Okere has warned that no harm must befall Okey Eze or any member of his team.
Confirming the revelations made by the Orlu zonal youth leader known as “Ten-Ten”, Comrade Okere criticized those engaging in politics of desperation stating that it is wrong to spill blood for the sake of power.
According to him “it is believed that some negative forces propelled by some evil-minded persons were responsible for the unexpected crash. Those responsible must stop or face the consequences if any of Okey Ezeh campaign members are affected again”
Adding more voice to the development, Okere said “Imo people must be extremely careful come 2015 so as not to be deceived by power mongers and murderers. APGA family must be allowed to choose a governorship flagbearer for 2015 than some people thinking it is their birth right. The amount of desperation can change the will of God in APGA”.
The leader of APGA youth Assembly enjoined Ezeh and his team not to be deterred by the setback but remain steadifast in fulfilling their dreams.
In related development All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Imo State Chapter has become the talk of the town and the party to beat Imo state.
Our reporter who monitored things at the party secretariat along Egbu road Owerri revealed that since Monday many APC and PDP members are trooping inside APGA office to buy nomination forms.
Some of the Transition Committee members serving under Okorocha’s administration were physically seen buying form. Ehime Mbano, Ezinihitte, Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu were among the local government areas whose transition committee members were noticed to have carpet crossed to APGA to enable them buy nomination forms.
Some of them who spoke to our reporter under strict anonymity revealed that their interest can no longer be protected in APC because of the party policy.
Another reason they gave was that they want to contest under a party that has Igbo true identity and not a party that is representing Yoruba and Hausa identity.
Meanwhile, the price of APGA nomination form has now been raised due to the rush, moreover the forms are now very scarce and difficult to get.
Source revealed that extortion of money from aspirants by party agents and officials have become the order of the day.
It was openly observed that aspirants after paying for their forms also settles the party officials with big some of money.
Some members of the party yesterday kicked against such extortion by the party bigwigs.
“It is a bad principle to force an aspirant to pay an unofficial money to the executive” some youths declared.
