In what looks like the conspiracy of the year, one of the top shots of the All Progressives Congress APC in Imo State, Pro Chancellor of Imo State University IMSU, and Chairman Governing Council of the Institution, Nze Clement Owunna has dumped Okorocha and APC hours after both men clicked glasses during the commissioning of a Recreation Park constructed by Owunna at IMSU, and inaugurated by Okorocha.
Onwunna’s resignation from APC came like s shock to many following how Onwnna and Okorocha hugged each other and exchanged banters at the occasion.
Trumpeta learnt that Owunna is heading to the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA, where he hopes to keep his dream of going to the Senate in 2015 still alife.
Sources told Trumpeta that within the period he served as Pro-chancellor of IMSU, Owunna discovered that Okorocha is a difficult person to work with, as he will give you a job and yet dictate what happens in that office from morning till night, therefore making you redundant, yet you take responsibility for what ever comes from the office.
It was learnt that while Owunna worked as Pro-Chancellor of IMSU, he was not allowed to make any input in the Institution, instead Okorocha’s kinsman, and Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr Paschal Obi, was the defacto Pro Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Accountant, Registrer and all put together.
In order to distance himself from the rot going on in IMSU, Owunna resigned his appointment and dumped APC for APGA to be his own man and regain his sense of purpose rubbished under Okorocha’s obnoxious, family hegemony.
Trumpeta learnt that the presidency may be aware of Owunna’s movement to APGA where he is bound to pick the Okigwe Senatorial ticket of the party.
Unfortunately, while Okorocha was yet to come to terms with the surprise loss of Owunna, another of his political Ally and Special Adviser, Chief Cyril Amako (Iritte 1) has also abandoned APC and Okorocha for yet to be announced political party.
The Owerri West LGA born Amako is said to have managed to endure Okorocha’s antics, but has had enough now and pulled out from the “bondage”.
Trumpeta sources said Amako has been having a running battle with the Okorocha family following excavation of sand at Nwaorie River, a job Amako has been doing even before Okorocha became a Governor, but since he assumed office, rather than benefit from a fellow party man, Amako has faced tough tides as an Okorocha’s female relation who is incharge at the send excavation centres in Imo has from adopted various measures to frustrate Amako from the lucrative business, which the Okorocha family has cornered to themselves.
Amako, who was a former heavy financier of the PDP and even operating the Government-owned Oguta motel, suddenly dumped PDP in 2011 and teamed up with Okorocha and APGA to wage a serious political war against PDP which cost the PDP the Guber seat in 2011.
However, Amako has now regretted his actions agents his beloved PDP, and may be heading back to the party since his political romance with Okorocha has ended in a sour note.
Unfortunately for Okorocha and APC, many trusted Allies of the Governor have been leaving the party even as the elections draw nearer.
First to move was Chief Felix Idiga (JAFAC) who was APC pivot in Orlu zone. Now, Owunna, one of the roaring cocks of APC in Okigwe zone has left.
Indications reaching Trumpeta are that in the next coming weeks, many will follow suit as they accuse Okorocha of running the APC and Imo Government like a personal estate, with only his family, inlaws and stooges he planted at various places.
