In a remark, the Imo State Secretary of the Association of Unemployed and self-employed youths, Lady Dianne Chukwu who signed the statement exclusively told Trumpeta report that political leaders always use unemployment situation as an advantage to engage youths to cheap politics in exchange of jobs offer. “We are so curious to know why our leaders use unemployment and job creation to play politics. Every Imo citizen knows about the 10,000 jobs saga for Imo youths and the current 25,000 Imo Youths Must Work Programme. The critical questions have not been answered: (1) why do they normally role out these employment opportunities close to between 7 and 8 months ahead of the elections? It is a calculated plan to give out 10,000/25,000 appointment letters in exchange of numerous votes. This is just to tell you that they are using youths to play politics”, the state secretary maintained. Lady Chukwu further explained that the association has over 45,000 members who are wholesomely committed to every course that would guarantee the emergence of a credible candidate who will address the needs of youths as the next governor of Imo State in 2015. She advised political leaders to emulate states like Lagos, Zamfara, Ondo among others that had created employment opportunities for her citizens.
