Wife of Imo State Governor Nneoma Rochas Okorocha yesterday disclosed that of his targeted two hundred and seventy two bedroom bungalows for the less privileged and widows in the state, that she has so far spent the whopping sum of three hundred and ninety three million (N393m)in the one hundred and thirty one of such buildings already completed.
Briefing Journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Owerri, Mrs Okorocha explained that the gesture which is part of her pet project SNARP has no government financial support.
The wife of the Governor who said she started the building and other projects in the scheme said that she is driven by the fact that charity is in her blood.
“Charity is my priority in life and that is why my SNARP project as well as my involvement in other charitable activities” Continuing she said, “There is no government one naira in the project. It is entirely my personal money and those of my friends and spirited Nigerians who expressed interest in the project”. Pointing out that the SNARP project is non-political and non-governmental.
The wife of the Governor used the opportunity to announce her this years state August women meeting starting on August 26th through 28th with a visit to Owerri zone. According to her the visit will provide for her, the opportunity to meet and interact with Imo women.
She disclosed that the team of the 2014 August meeting is INDELIBLE AUGUST MEETING. Adding that such competitions like match past, dancing competition, getting to know your spouse with such gift items like buses, bags of rice, cartons of milk, indomie noodle among others will be given to participants and beneficiaries.
Mrs Okorocha expressed confidence in the selection process by her team of volunteers and search group in choosing the real beneficiaries of the furnished two bedroom bungalow and other financial and material gifts of her project.
