Professionalism In
Sports Council
After just over three months of taking over the mantle of leadership in the Imo State Sports Council, the Principal Officer, Rtd Cpt Christian Ugochukwu Ibekwe has revealed that professionalism has been restored back to the council among many other notable achievements that has positioned to help move sports forward in the State.
According to the former Njabe LGA TC Chairman, Cpt Ibekwe who was speaking to sports writers in his office at Dan Anyiam Stadium recently informed that after his take over ceremony which took placeon May 9, 2014 from the erstwhile Ag Director of Sports, Mr Chizotam Aritola, lots of tremendous achievements has been recorded within the past three months of his stay in office.
He opined that with the unflinching support and dedication to work exhibited by the management and staff of the council who were also present during the briefing, lateness to work and less afar attitude is now a thing of the past as a whole total approach of professionalism has been adopted even as the senior officers now lead by example.
Cpt Ibekwe also revealed that his office recently concluded a tour of all the 27 LGA’s which he described as a successful venture with the tremendous response received and the programs organized by the coaches to harness talents especially with the Sports Festival almost at hand. He further maintained that infrastructures in the council area received upgrading and maintenance with clean-up exercise and an altar of prayer instituted for a healthy and good moral environment.
The council is also positioned to organize a mini-sports festival at the state level after the LGA’s would have rounded off with their own exercise with purpose of continuing the discovery of talented athletes for the festival as well as future events.
While thanking the His Excellency the Executive Governor of the State for his developmental strides since taking the mantle of leadership, Cpt Ibekwe also called for the Government to help the council by reviewing some of the MOU’s wrongly signed that are militating against the Council from striving as well as addition of personals for security in the stadium community.
Some of the management staff present during the briefing are Mrs Ngozi Anyanwu (Secretary), Mrs Patricia Ezeji (PRO), Mr Austin Atasie (DDS Coaching) and many others.
