A frontline governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Grand alliance (APGA) in Imo state, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho has strongly promised to implement a well articulated developmental agenda that would replicate exactly achievements of the late Sam Mbakwe whose administration has consistently adjudged the best in the state.
Addressing his supporters at Itu, Ezinihitte Mbaise while inaugurating Captain Iheanacho Campaign Organization (CICO) for Ahiazu/ Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency, the former minister of Interior disclosed that a well refined and comprehensive economic blueprint has been carefully developed by his team to fully actualize late Mbakwe’s dream of industrializing the state as well as creating genuine job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.
While applauding late Mbakwe’s visionary leadership which he said genuinely laid solid foundation for the speedy socio-economic advancement and infrastructural development of the state over 30 years ago, Capt. Iheanacho described successive administrations as ‘inept and visionless’ having failed woefully to leverage on such uncommon developmental initiative to move Imo to higher heights.
He said “It is absolutely disturbing that after several years our late Sam Mbakwe put Imo on the map of the fastest developing states in the country with his uncommon developmental initiatives, successive administrations have failed to leverage on such rare foundation to industrialize and further raise the infrastructural status of the state. The problem we have for for about 16 years now of democracy was restored is that we elected people of no integrity that lack vision, experience and maturity needed in governance. The joy today is that we have started showing enormous commitment and resilience towards rewriting the history as well as returning Imo back to work”.
Earlier in his address, the Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA Co- Ordinator of CICO, Sir Linus Onyeweke declared the slogan “Getting Imo Back to Work” prophetic as Capt. Iheanacho has in abundance the capacity and experience required to replicate late Sam Mbakwe’s giant strides in Imo state.
“Our dear Captain has undoubtedly captured the mood and mind of today’s Imo people with his visionary, prophetic and bold statement- ‘Getting Imo Back to Work’. If there is anything the Igboman needs, it is to work- we need to work in the farms and factories, on the roads and waterways, on our health and hospitality. Imo has the population; the skilled, the professional as well as the trainable. Our challenge has been who will put this population back to work as late Chief Onunaka Mbakwe did. Today, we have the answer in Captain. For our great party, APGA, the light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel. Let us remain united in our commitment to become the main vehicle for deliverance and emancipation of our people- the indefatigable Imolites. Our Captain will coast our political ship to victory come 2015. That is our joy” Onyeweke posited. Also, Sir Christian Chukwuocha, the traditional prime minister of Itu who earlier received Capt. Iheanacho and his entourage during a courtesy visit on behalf of their late traditional ruler and people of the community predicted total victory for APGA with the former minister of Interior on the driving seat in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
He declared that Capt. Iheanacho’s membership of the party has clearly underscores that APGA is still very much alive and strong in Imo state.
