activities last Tuesday in Ideato South LGA of Imo State when the Editor of Trumpeta Newspaper, Mr. Victor Madumere declared his intention to contest for the Imo State House of Assembly seat for Ideato South State Constituency in the Forthcoming General election on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015.
Mr. Madumere whose aspiration was joyfully received by the PDP leaders , ward executives, local government area executives and a host of party members who thronged en mass to witness what can be discribed more like the mother of all declarations in the history of Ideato South LGA.
In his declaration speech Mr. Madumere took time to explain why he decided to run for the assembly race and at the same time highlighted why he is the best for the plum job, Mr Madumere dazzled the party faithfuls with lots of workable and realizable ideas that will change the fortunes of both the constituency and the state at large by creating economic middle class empowerment programmes as well as disclosed ideas on how to combat the accommodation problems faced by Ideato South students in tertiary institutions in Imo according to him, “if elected a legislator come 2015 I have resolved not to be a leader but a servant leader to your aspirations.”
More so, he promised that as a watch dog of the society who has condemned the wrongful deeds of some of our law makers and commended the rightful ones if elected a law maker his representation shall usher in a new dawn that will reflect the collective interest of the people.
He averred that having interacted with some Governors in Nigeria, Legislators and Senators of various zones as well as impeccable leaders like Eze Ndi Igbo, Dim Emeka Ojukwu among others he is endowed with the ability and good will to relate with other assembly members to achieve positive results at all times, that will attract the dividends of democracy to the good people of Ideato South.
The UNIUYO graduate maintained that PDP is a people oriented party, that has no place in opposition especially in the constituency and Imo State. The Assembly hopeful advocated a total support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration aspirations and pledged support for Barr. Nnamdi Anyaehie led state executive. For Ideato South executives, Mr Victor described them as a group of visionary leaders.
Contributing, the Isiekenesi ward II Chairman, Hon Lambert Onuoha, assured the LG Party executives that his ward is presenting the best sellable candidate with pedigree, integrity and undented antecedent in community and human development and empowerment that will guarantee a landslide victory for PDP in the general election, he went ahead to describe Mr. Victor as a practical teacher.
A renowned, youth leader, social critic and activist in the state from Ehime Mbano, Engr Okey Norbert Osonwa who is a close associate to the aspirant, told the party executives and faithful that Mr Victor is an initiator, solution personified and very pro-active in action, and enjoined the party to consider the collective and personal gains Victor’s representation will bring and above all the marketability of Mr. Victor and others for the general election, as his candidacy will be victory guaranteed.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, the Director General of the Ihechidere Campaign Organization (IHECO), Comrade Chidi Ugochukwu, told the LG executives that his principal Mr. Victor Madumere has come to consult them as courtesy and respect demands in order to make his aspiration official and address them on his motivations and plans if elected a legislator. He submitted that Mr Victor is the best thing that will happen to the LG PDP as he stands tallest among other aspirant in all ramifications.
Responding, onbehalf of the LG Leadership, the Chairman, Hon Timothy Anumege applauded Mr Victor for his boldness, articulate Ideas, visions and aspirations to better the lots of Ideato South and Imo at large through legislative process, adding that he has been convinced and optimistic that there is hope for Nigerian.
The soft spoken Umueshi born party leader assured, the eloquent and vibrant aspirant of a level play ground, as he advised him not to relent on his consultation to leaders and faithful, stressing that his wealth of idea, boldness and out spokeness is what the constituency needs in a candidate for Imo House of Assembly in 2015.
