Oru West Agog As Joseph Ikunna Declares For Assembly Seat

The President and Founder of Joseph Chukwuma Foundation (JCI) Chief Joseph Ikunna has declared his intention to vie for the Imo State House of Assembly Seat for Oru West State Constituency in the general election on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015.
Chief Ikunna who made this declaration last Sunday, 19th July 2014 during a sensitization meeting with PDP leaders, ward executives and local government area executives held at the party office at Mgbidi, Oru West LGA in Imo State.
In his declaration speech Chief Ikunna took time to explain why he decided to run for the assembly race and at the same time highlight why he is best for the plum job.
According to him, having consulted widely with stakeholders in the polity, opinion leaders and the good people of Oru West his immediate constituency he is convinced and optimistic that the people of Oru west are fully in support of his ambition.
He maintained that he has resolved to render service that will impart positively on the lives of average people of Oru West stressing that for 17 years he has been busy working on the foundation so as to create job for his people because he derives much satisfaction given back the society. The successful business mogul who has been described as humility personified by a cross section of Oru West people, while reacting to questions from newsmen on his relationship with his people, after his declaration of intension said, “I am a grass root man to the core. My foundation JCI foundation has shown in every way that I am a grassroot man not just in Oru West but in the whole of Orlu Senatorial zone”.
Chief Ikunna revealed that his topmost priority if elected a legislature come 2015 will be to maintain a good relationship with the future governor, members of house of representative and senator of Orlu Senatorial zone so as to attract the real dividend of democracy for his people.
He averred that having dealt with Presidents of various countries in the recent past and some Governors in Nigeria, he understands how to create a bond that will yield result in a relationship. Maintaining that as a successful business man he has the ability and good will to relate with other human being to achieve positive result at all time. He reiterated that he has proved it in business and now wants to prove it in service to his people.
He observed that the last 8 years has brought absolutely nothing for Oru West assuring that his representation if elected would usher in a new dawn that will reflect the collective interest of his people.
A cross section of leaders in Oru West while speaking during the event reacted positively as they promised to continue to give him their support to ensure his dream must is realized.
The PDP chairman in Our West, Chief Sule Odinmega pointed out that PDP is the only party that can guarantee equity, fairness and transparency. He further told PDP members that Chief Ikunna has paid his dues in Orlu zone through his philanthropic disposition and dynamism.
Bar Amaku Ezioha in his speech advised Chief Ikunna not to relent in his effort to actualize his dream, stressing he can tell a quality product when he sees one. He advised members of PDP in Oru West give to him all the support.
In his own remark, Chief Solomon Okwokwo said he knows Chief Ikunna’s pedigree, describing him as an epitome of humility and honesty which has rated best among equal.
