The rift between some workers of Imo Security Network (ISN) and a top aide of governor Okorocha has deepened with both parties ready for a push.
Trumpeta learnt that the trouble escalated when some workers of the government backed security outfit could not get their salary for the past three months.
The aggrieved security men as it was gathered attempted to go on rampage for their money but were eventually stopped by superior security operatives at the State Government House, Owerri .
A top aide of the governor who was formerly a commissioner in Okorocha’s cabinet (names witheld) was alleged to have given a wrong signal to the governor which affected payment to the ISN officials, and as a result salaries of some security men working with the ISN was affected.
Feelers from unit hinted that unconfirmed reports have it that ghost workers receive salaries at ISN and based on this the governor was said to have given the affected aide power to head the audit team which eventually carried a verification exercise to ascertain the actual number of workers. Later on, it was learnt the workers were cleared but, could not pay them as directed by the top official.
The trouble became worse when the ISN went to bank and could not get their money for salary. After series of complains to top government officials, without response the operatives decided to take the bull by the horn by going for a show down. The trouble raised by the ISN operative who went on rampage is said to be causing disaffection in government circle leading their arrest.
Efforts to reach those in charge of the ISN and the named government official at the centre of the storm proved abortive.
