PDP Must Recapture Imo, South East In 2015 Ihedioha Assures Presidency Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has assured President Goodluck Jonathan and the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of resounding victory for the party in the South-east geopolitical zone in the 2015 general elections.
He said stakeholders of the party in the zone are resolved to work extra hard to ensure the party surpasses its record of success in the last general elections, adding that he would not relent in his efforts to place the party in premium state of readiness for the polls.
He spoke yesterday in his office when some chieftains of the party led by the South-east zonal publicity Secretary, Hon. Ali Odefa paid him a courtesy visit to appreciate him for his role in the party in the zone.
Speaking earlier, Hon. Odefa praised the deputy speaker for his loyalty to the PDP and his untiring efforts to make the party of full strength in the South-east.
According to him, Hon. Ihedioha’s contributions to the party in different respects including financially and morally is unparalleled and the party is indeed very appreciative of his commitment to the PDP.
He said the deputy speaker has shown unwavering commitment to the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan especially with respect to attracting the dividends of democracy to the zone.
He said the Hon. Ihedioha is a shining light of the PDP in the zone in whom the party is very proud and delighted, urging him not to relent in his efforts to move the party forward.
Present at the visit were some members of the House, including Chairman of the South-east caucus, Hon. Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi and Hon. Nkiru Onyeojocha.
Meanwhile, following the front page publication in one of the Imo state based tabloid, Nigerian Horn Newspapers of may 29, 2014 edition titled, “2015: Isiala Mbano PDP adopts Araraume as sole candidate, the ward youth leaders of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Isiala Mbano council area of Imo state have unanimously denied adoption of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as the sole Imo guber candidate from Isiala Mbano come 2015.
In a statement made available to newsmen recently which was signed by the PDP youth leaders of 12 wards of the council area, the youth leaders disassociated themselves from the purported adoption of Senator Araraume as reported by the newspaper.
According to them, the newspaper reported that Senator Araraume was formally adopted by the PDP Isial Mbano chapter members, party leaders and also claiming that the meeting which was resolved to adopt the former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria had in attendance all the PDP wards chairmen, all party leaders, women leaders and other PDP stakeholders in the area. The youth leaders also disclosed that some of them were present at the said meeting, but were never informed of the agenda of the meeting.
The statement further revealed that N5,000 offer given to each of them was rejected by some of them as Hon Jasper Ndubuaku whom they said he was not supposed to be part of the meeting was neither nominated nor willingly touched to move a motion of adoption of Senator Araraume as the sole candidate from Isiala Mbano local government area for the 2015 governorship election in Imo state.
Furthermore, the youth leaders urged PDP leadership to investigate reasons why Isiala Mbano PDP chairman, Chief Azubuike Ekwegh took them to such a dishonourable path (somebody’s private home) by luring them to a trap.
