Former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Honourable Barrister Kelechi Nwagwu has identified hunger and poverty as the major problem of Nigerians, saying that his mission at the Senate is to help in fighting the scourge.
Barrister Nwagwu told Newsmen over the weekend that if poverty and hunger is properly addressed in the country, that the menace of Boko Haram would have been checkmated. “If hunger and poverty is addressed, only the greedy will be involved in crimes”
Nwagwu explained that, “My tenure as the Hon. Speaker of Imo House, left indelible footprints in the sands of time, in terms of legislative ingenuity, espoused legal jurisprudence that are immutable and irreversible, peace in the state, checks and balances in the system, protection of the low and high in the state, populist bills and motions, that touched positively the lives of the people? He said, having gone through the rigours of elections in the past, that he has been in and out of government and therefore knows the feelings of the masses. “So I can appreciate and appraise situations opposite and act accordingly with humility and human face. I know the pains and the hardship in the society and I swear to ameliorate this if given the opportunity to represent the senatorial zone at the senate”.
Insisting that, “I shall fight to attract reasonable and effective attention to the near hopeless infrastructure, youth and adult employment and empowerment programs in our zone”. According to Nwagwu, what Imo people desire at any level of governance is quality representation and God fearing people who will serve the masses with the fear of God.
