The second stanza of the maiden edition of Imo state football competition among the 27 local Government Areas, tagged ‘Imo League’ will commence in the next two weeks.
Reports reaching ‘Imo Trumpeta’ indicate that all arrangements to ensure a hitch free flow of the competition during this second stanza have been taken care of.
Speaking to ‘Imo Trumpeta’ sports man, the chairman of the local organizing committee, Mr.Raymond Ebede who also is the PA to Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo explained that contrary to the wrong reports that the competition have been called off, the League actually went on a necessary break to enable the organizers put in place the necessary logistics that are needed for the success of the championship.
Dr Ray as he is popularly called also used this medium to inform all the 27 local government sports secretaries to start preparing their teams for the second round of the League group stage which is expected to resume by next two weekends. He also said that the LOC are already working with the Imo FA Board to come out with a comprehensive schedule of the remaining fixtures, which will guide the competing teams to participate well in the competition.
Meanwhile the team manager of Owerri – West LGA popularly known as Foot printers told ‘Imo Trumpeta’ that his team is now psychological and technically ready to tackle the second round of the League and qualify for the knock – out stage.
The League which is the brain child of Governor Rochas Okorocha and his SA on sports Amb. Kanu Nwankwo, was designed to rescue our youths who are endowed with football talents to give them the hope of achieving their potentials and better their life and that of their families because ‘Imo must be better’.
