A leader of the all Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon John Ucheoma has come hard on Prof. Uju Afulezi- a former member of APGA-for his unwarranted comments against the leader of APGA, Chief Martin Agbaso, describing such remarks which were reported in an Owerri tabloid not Trumpeta on Monday, 28th April, 2014, as emanating from someone without any political relevance, uninformed and one that had in no small way worked negatively to hinder the progress of the party.
In the said publication, it was noted that Prof. Afulezi had said that APGA did not belong to Chief Martin Agbaso and that he should “stop insulting the intelligence of Imo People.
Speaking exclusively to our reporter, Hon. Ucheoma maintained that Afulezi who had left APGA since 2006, has no right to discuss APGA matters, arguing that if Chief Martins Agbaso had abandoned APGA since 2006 as Afulezi and others did the party would have been dead by now.
Hon. Ucheoma asked Afulezi to tell Imolites why he declined to accept the Dep. Governorship position of APGA to Dr. Ezekiel Izuogu in 2003, arguing that it was because of his suspected incompetence that he conceded such a position to Dr. Iroegbu.
The APGA leader informed that it was as a result of Afulezi’s incompetence and unreliability that Agbaso by- passed him and handed over the reins of APGA in Ngor Okpala to a younger man, Hon. Noel Kaji (Carton) who had proved a better and more hard working man than him.
Again, Hon. Ucheoma queried how much Afulezi contributed to the building of APGA over the years.
He further asked if it would be good for one to build a house while another occupy, maintaining that Chief Agbaso’s faith in APGA had kept him in the party till today, even when others had left at trying periods of APGA.
If Prof. Uju Afulezi had been a reliable force in Ngor Okpala and Imo Politics, Ucheoma questioned, why did he shy away from becoming the chairman, campaign council (CCC) in Ngor Okpala in 2011, arguing that he fled from his community due to fear.
The Owerri Municipal APGA leader expressed his surprise that instead of Afulezi praising Chief Agbaso for his resilience and doggedness in sustaining APGA when all had abandoned the party, even at the expense of his private business collapsing, he is rather busy criticizing and trying to destroy the party.
On Agbaso selling out to Rochas, Ucheoma revealed that Chief Agbaso did not sell out to Rochas but due to the betrayal of the LGA Chairmen who had been deceived by Rochas with offers that he has failed to fulfill.
