Heartland Leads With Number of Foreigners
Naze-Millionaires, Heartland Fc may not be leading the Glo Premier League log, but the former champions have the largest foreign squad in the country.
The Kelechi Emeteole tutored side have five players from the West Coast: Saidou Badarou (Togo), Zoumane Doumbia and Keita Koman (Mali), as well as Roland Koffi and Konate Abdouramane (Ivory Coast).
Badarou has since become the biggest star in Emeteole’s squad after scoring thrice against Kaduna United, Nembe City and Enyimba to become the club’s top scorer.
Interestingly, the trio of Badarou, Doumbia and Koffi have been consistent in Emeteole’s squad since their debute at Kaduna United.
Doumbia has pushed Nigerian international and Chan 2014 star, Benjamin Francis, out of the left back position, while Koffi continues to excel in the midfield.
However, Koman and Abdouramane are used as substitutes due to their inability to get into Heartlands starting XI.
“I am happy with the performance of Badarou, Doumbia and Koffi, they have played well so far,” Emetole emphasized.
When asked about Koman and Abdulrahmane, the gaffer who got his first league victory and full three points last Saturday against Enyimba stated that both will have to improve on their efforts in other to remain with the team.
Heartland have always been associated with foreigners and it started when they were known as Iwuanyanwu National.
