The Isiala Mbano Imo House of Assembly race last Thursday took a new dimension with former Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) chairman, Hon Pharm Joseph Sunday Obi, a reputable pharmacist from clan Okohia in Osu Owerri announcing his intention to formally join the Assembly race come 2015 under Peoples Democratic Party PDP platform.
Pharm. Obi who has also served as an elected chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA made this declaration while addressing Osu Owerre ward 1 Executives, leaders and party members at his country home where he announced officially his intention to vie for the Assembly Seat which received a tumultuous welcome.
He stressed that he has consulted his immediate family and wished to consult the ward and community leaders in order to seek their approval. He stressed that he knew there are other sons and daughters of Osu clan who have indicated their interest but expressed optimism that he is the most qualified person based on his pedigree, credibility, political sagacity and potentiality.
Pharm. Obi further disclosed that he has used his position in the past to offer jobs and empowerment to over 50 unemployed youths from Osu Owerri while he promised to replicate the fit and even exceed it if given the opportunity. He further appealed to those he has offended in the past to forgive and forget as he solicites for their support. He pointed out that his intention to join the race is to contribute his quota towards the alleviation of the plight of the poor and down trodden by making people oriented laws. The frontline Assembly contender and a successful pharmacist averred that he was not in the race to amass wealth or for personal aggrandizement but to bring his wealth of experience to bear on lawmaking if elected to represent the people of Isiala Mbano.
He therefore challenged all PDP members to rally round a credible candidate with enough political experience, noting that the position is presently zoned to Osuh clan.
