Heartland’s Fed Cup chances in Jeopardy As Players resume strike actions

Feelers emanating from the camp of the Federation Cup Champions, Heartland Football club of Owerri does not look god as their chances of returning the trophy they won last year after 18 years of Trophiless run may not come through if urgent remedies are not taking by the sponsor’s of the team.

For the past one month, the players of the 2 time Cup Champions have been complaining of their unpaid remaining sign on fees as well as some other entitlements.  The players had earlier this month downed their working tools in protest of their unpaid entitlements.

Recently the team which have qualified for the semi final of the federation cup executed all their matches in Port Harcourt during the group games with grudging feelings as they were feeding at ‘mama – put’ centers due to lack of funds from its sponsors.

Imo Trumpeta” can authoritatively report that for the timely intervention of the General Manager Chief fan Nduoke who had to sort for funds elsewhere to pay their outstanding Hotel bills and feeding, the team almost had their bus confiscated by the Hotel management.

Currently, the player’s are reported to have gone on another strike action to further buttress their protest over their unpaid entitlements.  The implication of this action implies that the team may not honour their week 35 NPL game this weekend against Sharks FC inPort Harcourtwhich may attract sanctions from the organizers if nothing is done to arrest the ugly situation.

In a situation where the team fails to honours the game this weekend, Heartland may be relegated to the Lower division according to the statute of the Nigerian Premier League.
