A two-time member of Imo House of Assembly who represented Nkwerre constituency, Hon Prince Ugochukwu Nzekwe has debunked the insinuation making the rounds that he will soon dump Governor Rochas Okorocha and the All Progressives Congress, APC, because his godfather has parted ways with Okorocha and rejoined PDP.
Speaking to Trumpeta during phone interview, Nzekwe maintained that he has no political godfather, but the people of his community Owerre Nkwoji, Nkwerre LGA and Imo people, whom he serves in whatever position he found himself in the scheme of things in Imo polity.
Nzekwe made it clear that he plays politics of principle and ideals not that of stomach, adding that it his own contribution to the development of man kind.
The former Minority Leader told Trumpeta that he was a member of All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, before he moved to Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and now All Progressives Congress APC, adding that in all these political movements, he was guided by principle and not bandwagon effect.
Nzekwe said he is a foundation member of APC, and cannot leave, pointing out that with the exit of the likes of Achike Udenwa, Senator Araraume and others, he is now an “Elder” in APC and therefore cannot abandon a house he helped in erecting.
The Chairman, Sand Excavation Task Force, in Imo State, made it known that what happened is that those around him may not have known his political value and capabilities, pointing out that he is as old as the current political dispensation in Nigeria where he had contested elections thrice and won twice, but only lost in 2011 because the powers that be then hated his guts.
Asked if he was contesting election again in 2015, the easy going urbane fellow said it is possible, “since you can never say never for a politician”, stressing that his focus at all times is to see what he can do to improve the condition of the down throdden in the society.
